Today's trip proved to be the biggest test to date, fourteen hours from Little Rock, Arkansas all the way to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Knowing we needed as much time as we could get, we decided to multi-task and grab as much food from the continental breakfast as we could and eat on our drive to our first stop in Oklahoma City. Laura has really helped out on this trip driving almost five full hours. Oklahoma didn't offer much with regards to entertainment. We did happen to find where Carrie Underwood grew up, Checotah, Oklahoma. I had no idea she was even from Oklahoma, but when Laura saw the Checotah sign she almost had a heart attack. She was driving at the time and decided to stop in the breakdown lane of the highway so we could snap a few pictures of her name on a sign. Whatever makes you happy.
We jumped back on the highway and continued for Amarillo, Texas. Northern Texas isn't much different from Oklahoma. Really flat land with a lot of farm animals and hay. It is very relaxing though, and if it wasn't unseasonably freezing outside I would have put the window down and rode in peace. The biggest thing I have noticed so far in my trip is how it hasn't really gotten any warmer as we've traveled south. The temperature in Texas was in the high 30's and there was snow all over the ground. The worst thing about our trip so far is all the restaurant food I'm being forced to eat. I hate eating fast food all the time, but I really don't have a choice. I just finished eating a Cookie Dough Blizzard from Dairy Queen and I feel like I weigh an extra twenty five pounds. I'm really looking forward to getting into Phoenix tomorrow and finally getting a workout in and eating a better meal.
